Diamond...
A little bit of fluff
Int/GrCH Aircastle’s
Hope Diamond
Not every story begins happily.
Because of the distance
involved, we decided to use
chilled semen. But nature
doesn’t always comply and the
first breeding didn’t take.
By the second, her daddy had
passed away suddenly and left
only five vials of frozen semen.
But with surgical insemination
and lots of prayer, Sapphire
conceived. Sadly, the night the
pups were born, only one of
six, our Diamond, survived.
This made her most precious,
and thus, her tribute name of
“Hope” for her grandmother,
and “Diamond” after her
mother.
Even tragic stories can have
happy endings. She has grown
to be one of the most beautiful
pups in our line, never putting
a foot wrong, and with a smile
to match.
Coy with strangers and wild as
a hooligan, she’s free with
kisses and pure exasperation to
her aunt Dottie. She loves her
toys, chases the kitties, and
adores her Poodle mom with
unparalleled passion.
A true show girl, she finished
her UKC championship in three
straight shows, pressing on to
win her Grand Champion title
as well. But at only 20 inches
tall, she was too short to be
competitive in the AKC rings.
But she passed her beauty to
her daughter Crystal, who is
both an AKC Champion and UKC
Grand. “Like mother, like
daughter…!”
